Ford Laser/Ford Meteor (BF/KC/KE). 1985–9 (prod. unknown). 3-, 4- and 5-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door convertible. F/F, F/A, 1071, 1296, 1324, 1490, 1498, 1587, 1597, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1720 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. OHC), 1597 cm³ (4 cyl. DOHC). Second-generation Laser had more attractive styling, with hatchbacks having unique sheetmetal, while sedan, wagon and convertible were rebadged Mazda Familias. Sedans bore Meteor tag in Australia till mid-term facelift in 1987; the name continued on South African models, which were built until 1993 before being replaced by the Mazda-based Ford Tonic.
