Ford LTD (DC)

Ford LTD (EA26). 1991–5 (prod. 1,881). 4-door sedan. F/R, 3949, 3984 cm³ (I6 OHC), 4942 cm³ (V8 OHV). Subtle changes, distinguished by clear front indicators, but significant thanks to return of V8. Change to larger six-cylinder during run with Series II in 1992, with six-stack CD changer, new-look stereo, and analogue instruments replacing fussy digital ones. Improved anti-theft system later that year, safety upgrades 1993. Plenty of luxury, but still rough underpinnings shared with basic Falcon, and not as refined as European competitors. No independent rear suspension, though reasonably good handling considering bulk.
