Boxy saloon and estate range that spawned clones made under licence by [[SEAT]], [[Kia]], [[VAZ]], [[Tofaş]] and [[Premier]], as well as an attractive sports coupé and a long-lived convertible. Its centre section was donated to the larger [[Fiat 125]]. Successful at the time, with over 1·2 million of the saloon and estate made, and with all its clones, actually stayed in production in one form or another from 1966 to 2012. So beloved by Fiat that the nameplate was revived in 2016 for a [[Mazda]]-based roadster.

Practical, quick range, with all-disc brakes, and European Car of the Year for 1967. Boxy, modern shape for the time, better proportioned than [[Fiat 125|125]]. Fancy Special and Special T had larger engines: the Ts had the twin-cam DOHC units. Italian production to 1974, licensed to [[Kia]] of Korea (1970–5), which built facsimiles of the original as the Fiat–Kia 124. The Soviet [[Lada]] was the most famous remake, but was more primitive under the skin (see [[VAZ 2101]] and [[VAZ 2102]] for the starting-points); also made at Tofaş ([[Tofaş Murat 124|Murat 124]] and [[Tofaş Serçe|Serçe]]), Premier ([[Premier 118 NE|118 NE]] and [[Premier 1.38 D|1.38 D]]) and [[SEAT 124|SEAT]].
