Originally a coupé version of the Dodge Coronet, and stayed roughly in the same market niche for its first run from 1966 to 1978. The Charger nameplate then appeared, after it was used for a trim level, on a Dodge Omni-based coupé, before reappearing in the 21st century on a rear-wheel drive sport sedan.
