1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z.jpg

Dodge Daytona (G-body). 1984–94 (prod. n/a). 3-door coupé. F/F, 2213, 2507 cm³ (I4 OHC), 2213 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2972 cm³ (V6 OHC). Sports’ car on an extended K-car frame, with attractive body and Cd of 0,34. A bit weak with the 2·2, and better performance from the larger engines. Not that refined. Restyled in 1987 with pop-up headlights, with Shelby Z trim level that year, with 2·2 turbo—the Daytona took over the Chrysler Laser range that year as well. The 1990s saw the Mitsubishi V6 made available, along with a new interior similar to Chrysler LeBaron (1987–95). Final facelift in 1992, with fixed lights, but appearing dated by this time. Stiffer suspension from later IROC, with 2·5 turbo; R/T featured Lotus-designed DOHC cylinder head on the 2·2 turbo and direct injection.

Manufacturing locations: St Louis, Missouri, USA; Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA

Marque: Dodge | Predecessors: Mitsubishi Galant Λ (1980–3), Chrysler Laser | Successor: Dodge Avenger (1995–2000)
