Daihatsu Opti (L800S/L802S/L810S). 1998–2002 (prod. 219,803). 4-door hardtop sedan. F/F, F/A, 658 cm³ (I3 OHC), 658 cm³ (I3 DOHC), 658 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Second-generation Opti gets a separate boot, the first conventional sedan from Daihatsu since the original Fellow. Favoured more this time by male buyers. Uniquely for a kei car, featured a notchback hardtop body. Smaller than predecessor. More upscale Beex models from the beginning, retro-themed Classic from 2000. Mid-term changes in October 2000. Classic Memorial Edition from 2001 to commemorate the cumulative production of 1 million units. Manual transmission gone by October 2001, the same time the Classic was renamed the Classic Licca. Sales declined as tall, boxy wagons gained popularity. No direct successor, though various Mira models could be said to have filled the niche.

Manufacturing location: Japan

Marque: Daihatsu | Predecessor: Daihatsu Opti (L300)
