Daewoo Lacetti Premiere/Chevrolet Cruze/Holden Cruze/Chevrolet Cruze Classic (J300). 2008–16 (prod. 3,000,000 to August 2014). 4- and 5-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, 1364, 1598, 1796 cm³ petrol, 1686, 1998 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 1991 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Replacement for underwhelming J241 Lacetti is more stylish—design was led by Taewon Kim—and on GM’s new Delta platform, shared with the Opel Astra J. Still underwhelming, even when compared with old Astra H. Shown at Paris salon in 2008 as Chevrolet Cruze, but essentially a Daewoo product, launching in Korea first. One engine option initially, with 1·8 petrol and 2·0 diesel following. US production as Chevrolet Cruze, the second time that nameplate has been used. Sold in Australia and New Zealand as Holden Cruze; in Australia, replaced the Astra H—regarded as a retrograde step for Holden. Daewoo marque retired in 2011 and, even in Korea, this model adopted the Chevrolet Cruze nameplate from then on. Australian production from 2011. Chevrolet Cruze SW wagon shown at Genève 2012. Renamed Cruze Classic in China from 2014 after new model launched. Mexican production to 2015; Australian and Chinese production to 2016.
