Buick Riviera. 1995–9 (prod. 80,241). 2-door coupé. F/F, 3791 cm³ (V6 OHV), After a gap of one year, Buick launched its last Riviera in 1994, more substantial than predecessor: nine inches longer, 1·9 in wider, and a few hundred pounds heavier. Clean styling by William L. Porter. Shared platform with Oldsmobile Aurora (1995–9). More power to cope with the added weight, with the 3·8 delivering 205 hp; 225 hp for the supercharged model; both with decent acceleration, though the latter was thirsty. Revised supercharged engine optional from 1996, with 240 hp; this became the standard unit from the 1998 model year. Anti-lock brakes standard, optional traction control. Good steering and handling. Front bench seat standard; bucket seats optional. Keyless entry. Poor sales saw to Riviera’s cancellation, with only 1,956 made in its final model year. Last Riviera manufactured November 25, 1998.
