Audi A3/Audi S3. 2003 to date (prod. 1,000,000 as of March 2008). 3- and 5-door saloon, 2-door convertible. F/F, F/A, 1595, 1798 cm³ petrol, 1896 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. SOHC), 1395, 1598, 1798, 1984 cm³ petrol, 1896, 1968 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. DOHC), 3189 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Premium version of Volkswagen Golf, with stylish and restrained Audi styling, well balanced car. Sportback five-door added 2004 with single-frame grille, introduced on three-doors by 2005. S3 launched 2005—excellent high-performance hot hatch with 265 PS on turbocharged 2·0 model. Environmental e model from 2007 with 1·9 diesel with less than 120 g/km carbon dioxide emissions. Convertible, in the vein of old VW Golf Cabrios, announced late 2007.
