Toyota Mark II (X70/YX70/LX70/SX70/GX70G/GX71/MX71/YX72/MX72/MX73/YX76V/LX76V/YX78V). 1984–97 (prod. 645,594 sold in Japan). 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan, 5-door wagon. More formal (a ‘Beautiful Orthodox’ theme) looks for fifth generation, with export Cressida looking identical to the home market sedan and wagon, while hardtop gained a slanted nose. On the home market, sedans tended to be bought by taxi fleets and driving schools, while the hardtop was aimed at private buyers. Twin-turbo from 1985. Mid-term changes 1986. Hardtop and sedan discontinued in 1988, while wagon continued to 1997.
