Toyota Corolla Rumion.jpg

Toyota Corolla Rumion (E150N). 2007–15 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1496, 1797, 2362 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Oddball squared-off novelty car on E150 Corolla MC platform, exceeding the 1,700 mm width for the 5 tax bracket. Succeeded the boxy Toyota BB and Toyota Corolla Spacio, and exported with slight variations as Scion XB and Toyota Rukus. Name meant to be a blend of the words roomy and unique. Shape lent itself to lots of interior room, and entry and exit particularly easy, which explains why some were converted for wheelchair use in Japan. But despite weighing 582 lb more than old BB, space gains were minimal, according to US test. Poor visibility thanks to large C-pillar. Some body roll, but very good ride; handling and interior appointments average.

Manufacturing location: Iwate, Japan

Marque: Toyota | Model: Toyota Corolla | Predecessors: Toyota Corolla (E120), Toyota BB (NCP3) | Successor: Toyota Corolla Cross
