Ssangyong Rexton (Y200/Y250/Y290). 2001–17 (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/R, F/A, 1998, 2157 cm³ diesel, 2295 cm³ petrol (I4 DOHC), 2696 cm³ diesel (I5 DOHC), 2874 cm³ diesel (I5 OHC), 2799 cm³ diesel, 3199 cm³ petrol (I6 DOHC). Styled by ItalDesign, Rexton was originally conceived as a Musso successor, but wound up complementing the older model. Launched with three-part radiator grille, a Daewoo motif, as the company owned Ssangyong at the time, and it was even sold as a Daewoo in Europe. Well equipped for the price, and capable off-road, but harsh ride, poor refinement and sub-par handling. Stability control from 2003. Some handling issues fixed with Rexton II (Y250) facelift in 2006. Super Rexton from 2008. Rexton W (Y290) facelift from 2012 under Mahindra management.

Manufacturing location: Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, Korea

Marque: Ssangyong | Model: Ssangyong Rexton | Successor: Ssangyong Rexton (Y400)
