Ford Escort (C490). 2014 to date (prod. 800,000 sold to April 2018). 4-door sedan. F/F, 1499 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Designed for the Chinese market, on a Ford Focus Mk II platform. Replaced the Focus Classic on the C307 platform, and slotted under the Ford Focus Mk III. Rivalled Volkswagen Jetta Night. Australian-designed, in consultation with Ford’s Nanjing research and engineering centre. Very basic dials, and restrained interior but with angular shapes. Power from 1·5 Ti-VCT unit, developing 81 kW. Facelift in 2021, with interior revamp and inclusion of two digital screens.
