Chevrolet Cavalier. 1995–2005 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/F, 2189 cm³ (I4 OHV), 2196, 2392 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Slightly larger follow-up to J-car, though on related platform, now competing against Honda Civics rather than Honda Accords in US. More modern styling. Patchy build quality, selling largely on price. Body roll, steering not that responsive, though reasonably comfortable. Exported to Japan as Toyota Cavalier till 2000. Facelifts for 2000 and 2003. Convertibles to end of 2000 model year. Z24s were coupés only till 2002, when trim available on sedans. Largest 2·4 DOHC replaced by 2·2 DOHC for 2002.
