F/R, F/A, 1995 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 2979 cm³ petrol, 2993 cm³ diesel (I6 DOHC), 4395 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Amalgam of fastback and SUV (F07 was taller than a regular 5er) but not having the right dynamic excellence of other BMWs. Long wheelbase—underpinnings actually related to the larger BMW 7er-Reihe (F01). Not that roomy for luggage given the size, steering too light. Firm ride, despite comfort aim, though good handling. Mid-term refresh in 2013.
