Toyota Avensis (T270). 2008–18 (prod. n/a). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, 1598, 1798, 1987 cm³ petrol, 1598, 1998, 2231 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). More angular, voluminous and cab-forward design for third-generation Avensis, with high-quality materials inside and build outside; and packed with features such as steering and lane assist, and adaptive cruise control. Unrefined ride on less accommodating roads, but a good motorway cruiser. Still lacking character, but well suited to buyers who cared little about such matters. Facelifted in 2015, and 1·6 diesel added that year. Sales dwindled to 25,319 across Europe in 2017, and Toyota announced the end of production the following March.
