2016 Renault Kaptur.jpg

Renault Kaptur/Renault Captur. 2016 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/F, F/A, 1461 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1498, 1598, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Russian special, with the styling of the Spanish-made Renault Captur I, but adapted to the Dacia Duster I platform, which meant Dacia Logan I roots. Wheelbase up by 68 mm to 2,674 mm; length up 211 mm to 4,333 mm; and greater road clearance. Four-wheel drive available. Front axle reinforced, tougher springs, more powerful alternator and greater battery capacity. Some Duster items in the interior, which isn’t as premium as the stylish exterior suggests. Not nimble on the Tarmac but more rugged than the original. Later made in Brazil, FWD only, with the Captur nameplate; the same was repeated in India, but with 1·5 petrol and diesel units. Mid-term refresh in 2020 in Russia, with Kaptur actually going on to a newer platform—the B0+—the same as the one underneath the Renault Arkana (JC).

Manufacturing locations: Moskva, Russia; Brazil; Oragadam, Tamil Nadu, India

Marque: Renault
