Rambler American. 1964–74 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 2-door coupé, 5-door wagon, 2-door convertible. F/R, 196, 199, 232 in³ (I6 OHV), 290, 343 in³ (V8 OHV). Clean, practical compact line styled by Richard Teague, getting a full redesign, gaining curved side glass. Wheelbase up by 6 in; front coils and rear leaf springs for better ride. Doors shared with larger Rambler Classic (1963–4). Rogue hardtop from 1966. Model line simplified for 1968. Also made in Argentina as IKA Torino, after a facelift by Pininfarina, and in Iran by Pars Khodro from 1967 to 1974, but replaced in North America in 1969 by the renamed AMC Rambler, then the AMC Hornet.
