From AutocadeRambler Ambassador/American Motors Ambassador. 1965–75 (prod. 48,468 for 1965, n/a for 1966 in US; 7,093 sedan, 321 wagon in Argentina). 2- and 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door hardtop coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 231 in³ (I6 OHC), 232 in³ (I6 OHV), 287, 327 in³ (V8 OHV). With Roy Abernethy at AMC’s helm, the Ambassador went on a stretched Classic platform, the wheelbase increasing to 116 in. Vertically stacked headlights. Convertible returned to the Ambassador line for the first time since the 1940s. Lost the Rambler marque for 1966 in the US as American Motors used instead, to shed any economy-car impressions. Introduced in Argentina in 1965, made by IKA, with Tornado Jet 320 (3770 cm³, 321 in³) OHC engine. Argentinian wagons called Cross Country, deleted 1968. Sedan produced to 1972, then by special order thereafter till 1975. Kept the Rambler marque in Argentina.
