Plymouth Valiant (A-body). 1967–73 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop, 2-door coupé, 2-door LWB hardtop. F/R, 170, 198, 225 in³ (I6 OHV), 273, 318, 340 in³ (V8 OHV). Third generation of increasingly popular compact line, setting a sales’ record in calendar 1972 with 330,373 units. Wheelbase lengthened to 108 in, with boxier styling. Reliable, with good roadholding and handling, becoming a favourite among buyers. Duster coupé for 1970, replacing hardtop, spun off into its own line for 1971. Valiant Scamp from 1971, which sat on a 111 in wheelbase—it was Plymouth’s version of the Dodge Dart Swinger.
