Opel Rekord. 1977–83 (prod. 993,000 approx.). 2- and 4-door saloon, 3- and 5-door estate. F/R, 1688, 1897, 1979 cm³ (I4 CIH), 2068, 2260 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 2319 cm³ (I4 OHV), 2784 cm³ (I6 OHC). Crisp, modern styling for new-generation Rekord. Related to Vauxhall Carlton Mk I, essentially Rekord with Vauxhall “cat’s eyes” grille. European models replaced 1982. Sold as Chevrolet Rekord till 1983 (with the 2·0, 2·3 OHV and 2·8 engines), when the range was rebadged Opel. Very roomy, comfortable and practical car.
