1965 Opel Rekord Coupé.jpg

Opel Rekord. 1965–6 (prod. 296,000 approx.). 2- and 4-door saloon, 2-door coupé, 3-door estate, 3-door van. F/R, 1492, 1698, 1897 cm³ (I4 CIH), 2605 cm³ (I6 OHV). Stopgap model, introducing Opel’s new cam-in-head fours and a grille and rear end previewing the Rekord C, which was not ready for production. Outwardly a facelifted Rekord A. Widened track at rear, but maintained semi-elliptic leaf springs; double wishbones at front carried over virtually unchanged. Dual-circuit brakes; discs at front; drums at rear. Prewar six, dating from 1937, carried over; no power steering, making manœuvring very difficult. Produced only from August 1965 to July 1966 before the C was introduced. Basic Olympia two-door model based on Rekord B; it was the last Olympia to be linked to the Rekord line.

Manufacturing location: Rüsselsheim, Hessen, Germany

Marque: Opel | Model: Opel Rekord | Predecessor: Opel Rekord A | Successors: Opel Rekord C, Opel Commodore A
