Mitsubishi Galant Fortis.jpg

Mitsubishi Galant Fortis/Mitsubishi Lancer Fortis. 2007 to date (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1499, 1590, 1798, 1968, 1998, 2359 cm³ petrol, 1998 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). Based on a design concept from 2005, Galant Fortis really eighth-generation Lancer, and badged Lancer for almost all export markets. Tidy, sporting exterior design, though interior plain. Wider than the 1,700 mm width allowed by the 5 tax bracket in Japan (now 1,810 mm), which may be the reason for the Galant name, usually applied to a larger car. Two-litre petrol engine only in Japan. High-performance Evolution X still with Lancer badges; covered separately. Five-door Sportback from 2008. Facelift in China in 2012, with Lancer Fortis name, giving sedan a more conventional, formal grille; slightly altered rear end. Taiwanese Lancer Fortis gained a different grille in 2014 but a similar rear end, while the Lancer iO built there retained the old rear and a new, lower grille that jutted out further with a slight reverse rake. Replaced in Taiwan in 2017 with Grand Lancer.
