Shown at the IAA in 2015, Baleno slotted above the [[Suzuki Swift (ZC2)|Swift]], on a new platform, and targeted the [[Hyundai Élite i20]] in India. Light (905 kg) but felt well planted, and practical. Good handling but little feedback through steering wheel. Touch-screen easy to use, if a little slow in response. The 1·2 engine featured high compression; another version had mild hybrid features (an added 0·2 kWh lithium–ion battery); triple proved very willing. Badge-engineered on the home market as the [[Toyota]] Glanza from 2019, and exported as the [[Toyota Starlet]] to some African countries from 2020.
