Windom turned into a swoopy sedan for its third generation, which also became the Lexus ES for export. Afterwards, the nameplate was introduced to Japan, though it soon became an export-only model again, and it was made in the US as well. Eventually, the ES went on to the Avalon platform and also replaced the GS. In the mid-2020s, the eighth generation was rethought as a six-light fastback, related to the Crown Crossover.
