Ford Cortina Mk II. 1966–70 (prod. 1,159,389 UK only). 2- and 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/R, 1198, 1298, 1498, 1598 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV), 2994 cm³ (V6 OHV). Bigger all round, with boxy, Roy Haynes styling. Carryover engines replaced in 1967 with 100 cm³ bigger units. Different designations in Australia: 220, 240 and 440 (for two- and four-door models, 20 and 40 denoted 1·3 and 1·6). Essentially the same formula but updated: great value, strong performance from uprated 1·6. Performance models have competition history, Lotus Cortina also updated to Mk II in 1967. Notable introduction of 1600E (for Executive) with numerous luxury features and high-performance GT engine. Minor updates 1969. Also built in Korea by Kia, while Basil Green Motors of South Africa created a Perana model with a three-litre V6, officially sold through Ford there.
