1975 Dodge Dart.jpg

Dodge Dart (A-body). 1970–6 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop sedan, 2-door coupé. F/R, 198, 225 in³ (I6 OHV), 318, 340, 360 in³ (V8 OHV). The 1967 generation, rebodied for the 1970s. More substantial appearance for sedan, even though trunk space was reduced. Reliable and generally practical, and well regarded. Demon denoted the swoopier coupé (on a shorter wheelbase), twinned with Plymouth Duster; Swinger was the two-door hardtop, similar to the Plymouth Valiant Scamp. Christian groups’ complaints saw Demon become Dart Sport in 1973, hence its inclusion here. Above-average handling and roadholding, with decent fuel economy for its class. Some rust among used cars, but fared better than its successor.

Manufacturing locations: Belvidere, Illinois, USA; Detroit, Michigan, USA; Hamtramck, Michigan, USA; Los Angeles, California, USA; St Louis, Missouri, USA
