Citroën BX. 1982–94 (prod. 2,315,739). 5-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, F/A, 1124, 1360, 1580, 1905 cm³ petrol, 1769, 1905 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1905 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Replacement for GSA, with Italianate styling by Marcello Gandini. Some Citroënesque features, such as hydropneumatic suspension and some major plastic panels, though platform later shared with Peugeot 405. Good ride but body roll on lesser models. Less rust-prone. GTi 16V from 1987, with DOHC, and the first French production car with a 16-valve engine. Mid-term changes in 1986, with further minor revisions 1989.
