First crossover from Chevrolet, on Theta platform that underpinned related cars from Pontiac, Saturn, Opel and Daewoo. First generation left something to be desired in the driving stakes and had forgettable looks, but 2010 model year Equinox remedied the dynamics and refinement, while appearing smart at the same time. GM downsized the third generation to compete with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4: second-gen had dated and its size, between compact and mid-sized, didn’t work with buyers.
