File:1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Sport Coupé.jpg

Chevrolet Chevelle. 1968–72 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop coupé, 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible, 4-door hardtop sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 230, 250 in³ (I6 OHV), 307, 327, 350, 396, 400, 402, 427, 454 in³ (V8 OHV). Middle-of-the-road intermediate range, with average ride and accommodation, and an unremarkable reliability record—not as well made as Buick Skylark (1968–72) and Oldsmobile Cutlass (1968–72). Not particularly roomy down the back for two-doors, on a shorter wheelbase (112 in versus 116 in). Malibu an upscale trim level, and SS muscle car the one to have for many collectors. Sheetmetal changes for 1970. With the broad range, the Chevelle was the US’s second best seller in 1972.
