Coupé designed to fight BMW 3er-Reihe, sharing a platform with the contemporary Audi A4. It was soon joined by a convertible and fastback saloon. When the second-generation model was launched, the three body styles were maintained. The third generation saw a greater change, taking over from both the A4 and A5 Sportback, with the coupé and convertible gone.
