Toyota Corona (T170). 1987–92 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 1498, 1587, 1838, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1974 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Much blander-looking Corona, sold as Carina II in western European market. Five-door dubbed SF, standing for sensational feeling. Four-wheel-drive option from 1988. Mid-term facelift with more formal grille in 1989, apeing change in T100 series. Last wagon to have the Corona name in the home market as Caldina took over, though that model was exported as Corona to some countries. Celica-based T160 coupé overlapped into this generation, replaced in 1989. No character, average in most respects, though reliable.
