From AutocadeSuzuki Fronte (CN11). 1988–9 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 547 cm³ (I3 OHC). Boxy shape meant more space for the final Fronte, in its seventh generation. Front disc brakes and 12-inch radial tyres for all but the lowest models. Still paired with its sister car, the Alto, which had a different grille (and one of two three-door bodies). Released October 1988, deleted March 1989, as Japan abolished its old excise tax system in favour of a consumption tax, meaning the Fronte’s sister car, the Alto, no longer enjoyed its competitive advantage. Suzuki opted to merge the Fronte with the Alto range. Its five months on sale made it the shortest-lived Suzuki model range.
