Marketed aggressively, and priced to undercut Hyundai Sonata (YF), its main rival in the home market. Exported to some markets with new grille as Renault Latitude or, in the Middle East, Renault Safrane. Facelifted in 2012, upon which this model became the SM5 Platinum.
