From AutocadeRenault Premier (X58). 1987 (prod. 139,051 incl. Eagle Premier and Dodge Monaco). 4-door sedan. F/F, 2464 cm³ (I4 OHV), 2975 cm³ (V6 OHC). Short-lived Americanized Renault, with sedan bodyshell designed by Giugiaro. Related to Renault 25 in terms of drivetrain and suspension, though floorpan unique. Choice of four-cylinder AMC engine or PRV V6. A handful left the new factory in Canada before Chrysler renamed all AMC products to Eagle; subsequent cars called Eagle Premier. Very refined and roomy by American standards. Conventional by Renault standards but still too quirky for Americans. Coupé planned (Renault Allure, or X59) but never realized.
Marque: Renault | Predecessor: AMC Eagle | Successor: Eagle Premier
