From AutocadeRenault Fuego (projet 136). 1980–92 (prod. 226,583 France only). 3-door coupé. F/F 1397, 1647 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1995, 2165 cm³ petrol, 2068 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Renault 18-based coupé, replacing 15 and 17 and first model for some years with a name and not a number. Stylish thanks to Robert Opron shape, seen as very avant-garde in 1980, and actually not a bad handler. Refinement only so-so. Sold via AMC in US 1982–5. Turbocharged model in 1983, same year as mid-term facelift. Larger 2·2 from 1984 in US. Argentinian and Venezuelan production from 1987, with 2·2 only. French production stopped 1985 and Spanish stopped 1986, but South American production to 1992.
