Renault 14 (Projet 121). 1976–83 (prod. 993,193). 5-door saloon. F/F, 1218, 1361 cm³ (I4 OHC). A modern Volkswagen Golf I rival, with hatchback body and transverse engines (XA Douvrin units shared with Peugeot). Well thought out inside, with foldable and removable rear seat. Wheelbase differed on each side thanks to Renault’s rear suspension. Rust problems saw to the 14’s poor reputation, sealing the model’s fate.
