Proton Gen-2. 2004–15 (prod. 97,779 to March 2007). 5-door sedan. F/F, 1332, 1597 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Proton had high hopes for the Gen-2, developed with the help of subsidiary Lotus and with no connection to old Mitsubishi-based models. It may drive reasonably well (albeit with more body roll) and look pleasant from the outside, but build quality and plasticky interior lacking. Locally developed engine has right note but less power at top end. Booted model called Persona. Sold, with Persona, as Youngman Lotus L3 in China.
