From AutocadeOpel Rekord. 1963–5 (prod. 887,304). 2- and 4-door saloon, 3-door estate, 2-door coupé. F/R, 1488, 1680 cm³ (I4 OHV), 2483, 2605 cm³ (I6 OHV). P2 successor, dubbed Rekord A as a departure from previous lineage, though the Olympia model name still appeared on the glovebox. Largely the same under the skin (four-cylinder engines had prewar origins), but with more modern, US-designed body, inspired by the Chevrolet Chevy II (1962–5). Coupé design had input from Rüsselsheim. Handful of convertible conversions made. Six-cylinder model with 12 V electrics from March 1964, but with heavy engine (this also had prewar origins), no power steering, and poor fuel economy. For tax reasons, Austria received a 2·5 six.
