1975 Dodge Colt.jpg

Mitsubishi Galant (New Galant). 1973–7 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 2-door coupé, 5-door wagon. F/R, 1597, 1850 cm³ (I4 OHC). Larger, coke-bottle Galant, distancing the line from the new Lancer, now Mitsubishi’s entry in the compact market. Sold as Dodge Colt in the US. Wagon was really a carryover from the previous generation, but with the new nose. Met a hurdle early on with the fuel crisis, harming domestic sales, though by US standards, this was a compact. Emphasis on comfort, perhaps a concession to North American markets. Most short-lived Galant, in production for three years, as more aerodynamic, efficient successor came on stream in 1976. Australian Chrysler versions from 1974 to 1977, first badged Valiant Galant (for GC and GD series), then plain Galant (GD). LPG variant offered for taxi market.

Manufacturing location: Japan

Marque: Mitsubishi | Model: Mitsubishi Galant | Predecessor: Mitsubishi Colt Galant | Successors: Mitsubishi Galant Σ (A120), Chrysler Sigma (GE)
