A joint-venture vehicle sharing a platform with the Volvo S40 (VS), and made at the same Nedcar plant in the Netherlands, targeting the mid-sized segment in Europe. Japanese design and European build quality might have been the wrong combination, and the Carisma became known for its lack of charisma, namely an absence of style and driving dynamics.
