Mazda Axela
From AutocadeCompact car, and replacement for the long-running Familia series, based on the Ford C1 platform shared with the Ford Focus Mk II and Volvo C30. More Japanese, expressive styling, especially as Ford was concerned that prior to the Axela, the Focus—supposedly aimed at more mainstream buyers—was more sporting in looks. Exported as Mazda 3. Second-generation model more evolutionary in looks. Distinctive Kodo design language for third generation. Succeeded on the home market by the 3, as Mazda adopted the export name.
