1981 Lincoln Town Car.jpg

Lincoln Town Car. 1981–9 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/R, 4942 cm³ (V8 OHV). Downsized in 1980 on to Panther platform (as with 1979 Ford LTD and Mercury Marquis), and spun off from Continental line for the first time. Virtually identical to the 1980s at first, though no Town Coupé. Minor refreshes in 1985, softening lines slightly, and 1988. By mid-1980s, with Cadillac de Ville having moved to smaller C-body, Town Car marketed as traditional, full-sized luxury car, a position it would retain with the next generation.

Manufacturing location: Wixom, Michigan, USA

Marque: Lincoln | Model: Lincoln Town Car | Predecessor: Lincoln Continental (1980) | Successor: Lincoln Town Car (1990–7)
