1965 Lincoln Continental.jpg

Lincoln Continental. 1964–5 (prod. 76,477). 4-door sedan, 4-door convertible. F/R, 430 in³ (V8 OHV). Continued subtle styling changes for 1964, and wheelbase stretch from 123 to 126 inches. Flat, rather than curved, side glass, and more upright C-pillar, aiding rear headroom. Sales increased, despite competitors responding to the Lincoln look, and being the fourth year of this design theme. Another facelift for 1965, with turn signals moving to above the bumper, wrapping around the front wings. Front disc brakes for ’65. Sales increased again—remarkable considering the age of the design. Excellent quality at the time with high customer satisfaction, though handling was not the best, and the wheelbase stretch may have cost the Continental a bit of body rigidity (though the cars remained strong overall).

Manufacturing location: Wixom, Michigan, USA

Marque: Lincoln | Model: Lincoln Continental | Predecessor: Lincoln Continental (1961–3) | Successor: Lincoln Continental (1966–9)
