Kia K5/Kia Optima (TF). 2010–15 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, 1685, 1998, 2359 cm³ petrol, 2359 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid (I4 DOHC). Substantial-looking, handsome family car for Kia, replacing Lotze, with recognizable “tiger nose” family grille. Same platform as Hyundai Sonata (YF). Twin-turbo two-litre with fairly low power output but good fuel economy, and hybrid 2·4 among the powertrains, alongside regular 2·0 and 2·4. Exported as Optima or Magentis to some countries. Well equipped as expected at this level from Kia. Low-slung body helped handling; mild understeer; strong brakes. Excellent TV exposure at launch due to appearance in hit show.
