Geely Meirenbao (吉利美人豹). 2003–8 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. F/F, 1342, 1498, 1762 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Possibly China’s first coupé, intended as a halo car for the Geely range, with awkward, overstyled appearance. Quite good to drive, especially considering the company’s newness to the industry. Tianjin-manufactured Toyota 1·3 and 1·5 engines initially. Featured in-car entertainment system that could play DVDs, VCDs, CDs, and MP3 files, working fully, with images, even while driving. Update to Meirenbao Leading in 2006, with new front and rear ends, revised interior with the infotainment system gone, and addition of Geely’s own 1·8.
