Geely Haoqing (JL7101/JL7131/HQ7100/HQ7130). 2000–8 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, 993, 1046 cm³ (I3 OHC), 1342 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Replacement for original Geely cars based on Tianjin Xiali TJ730 (in turn based on Daihatsu Charade (G100)). Faux Mercedes-Benz grille to signal prestige for mainland Chinese buyers getting in to cars for the first time. Toyota-derived engine initially. Not the best when it came to quality and for years, Geely’s worst in this respect. Facelift c. 2004 for a smoother, less pretentious front end.
