Dodge Monaco (1977–8)
From AutocadeDodge Monaco (B-body). 1977–8 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé, 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 225 in³ (I6 OHV), 318, 360, 400, 440 in³ (V8 OHV). Renamed version of Coronet. Dodge presented the renamed car as part of a luxury range where customers had the choice of a mid-sized or a full-sized (Royal Monaco) vehicle. The Coronet origins were clear, dating back to 1971, and this was not a real downsizing of the Monaco line—buyers went to the Chevrolet Caprice (1977–90) instead. Flagship of the Dodge range in 1978 as Royal Monaco retired. Largest 440 in³ for law-enforcement models only.
Marque: Dodge | Model: Dodge Monaco | Predecessors: Dodge Coronet (1971–6), Dodge Charger (1975–8) | Successor: Dodge St Regis
