Daimler (XJ40). 1986–94 (prod. 10,313 3·6; 8,876 4·0; 43 4·0 LWB). 4-door saloon, 4-door long-wheelbase saloon. F/R, 3590, 3980 cm³ (I6 DOHC). Most luxurious version of the Jaguar XJ6, now simply called ‘Daimler’, without a model name. Exported as Jaguar Vanden Plas to the US. Rectangular headlights as with Jaguar Sovereign, but with trade-mark Daimler fluted grille. Upgrade to larger engine in 1989.
