Continental Mark III
From AutocadeContinental Mark III. 1958 (prod. 12,550). 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible, 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan. F/R, 430 in³ (V8 OHV). Technically not a Lincoln though serviced at Lincoln dealers: Continental was a separate division at Ford. (Ford merged the Continental line into the Lincoln marque after this model year.) Huge car and out of step as US economy went into recession in 1958 and people sought smaller cars. Handling respectable by US standards despite bulk. Price dropped into the US$6,000 range, aiding sales; Ford made a profit on these Continentals.
Marque: Continental | Predecessor: Continental Mark II | Successor: Lincoln Continental Mark IV (1959)
